Plumbing projects, much like electrical work, aren’t things that you can DIY. In fact, meddling with your plumbing fixtures can lead to more extensive issues that then require pricier solutions. It makes sense to call on a plumber when you need professional service the first time.
But how do you know if you need a plumber? In our last blog post, we highlighted a few instances that indicate you need the skills of an experienced plumber. Now we would like to go more in-depth.
- Clogged Toilet – If you’ve attempted to use a plunger to no avail, call in a plumber. A clogged toilet can quickly become an overflowing toilet, and no one wants to deal with that messy situation.
- Broken Water Main – This is a serious issue requiring immediate repairs. Discolored or smelly water, water collecting in your yard, sinkholes, and low water pressure are all signs of a broken water main.
- Sump Pump Issue – Your sump pump should turn on when you need it and shouldn’t be running constantly. If your sump pump is having these issues or you hear it vibrating or making strange noises, call in a plumber right away.
- Frozen or Burst Pipes – A frozen pipe can turn into a burst pipe, sending water all over your home and damaging your belongings. Whether your pipes are spewing out water or you fear they might do so soon, a plumber can fix the problem before it gets worse.
- Clogged Sewer Line – While you can’t see your sewer line, you can certainly smell it! If you notice strange odors, if your yard is flooded, or if your drains and toilets are backed up, you should call in a plumber to examine your sewer lines.
